Referral Rules and Responsible Use
The referral programme exists so that people who genuinely recommend Video Replay to others can be recognised for it. It runs across every platform Video Replay is on — these rules describe how it works, what your alias means once it is published, and what happens if the programme is abused.
Your invite code
Every install generates its own invite code — eight characters in the form
XXXX-XXXX. It is created on your device, it is not linked to your name, email
or phone number, and it never changes. Sharing the app from the start screen attaches the
code to the link so an install can be credited to you.
Your leaderboard alias
An alias is optional. Without one you can still share your code; you simply will not appear on the public leaderboard.
An alias is published to the open internet. The leaderboard is a public web page. Anyone can read it, search engines will index it, and copies are cached, archived and screenshotted by people and services we do not control. Removing your alias later removes it from our page — it does not remove it from search results, archives or anyone's copy. Treat anything you put there as permanently visible to the world.
For that reason, please do not use your real full name, an email address, a phone number, your address, your school or club, or anything else that identifies you or where you are. A nickname is the right kind of answer. The app rejects the obvious cases — things shaped like an email address or a phone number — but it cannot tell that a name is your real one.
Once the leaderboard is live, an alias can be changed once every 182 days (about six months). A leaderboard is only meaningful if the name at the top is the same person each time, so aliases are not disposable. The lock runs from when an alias is published, not from when it is typed in, and the app shows the date yours can next be changed. While the board is not yet running an alias can be changed freely.
You can also remove your alias entirely from the app, which takes you off the leaderboard. Before the board goes live that is immediate and complete, because nothing has been published. Afterwards it removes you from our page, subject to the same lock — deleting and re-adding is not a way around it — and the caveat about caches and archives above still applies.
What counts as a referral
- A real person, who did not already have the app, installs it and uses it.
- They arrived through your link or entered your invite code.
- They made that choice themselves, because you recommended the app to them.
What is not allowed

Breaches, and what happens
Where we find that these rules have been broken, we may take any of the following steps, depending on what happened:
- Remove or reset the alias, and remove the entry from the leaderboard.
- Discount referrals we believe are not genuine.
- Ban the account from the referral programme. A banned account earns no further referrals.
- Void any bonuses, prizes, plaques, promotion or other rewards — whether already earned, pending, or promised — that are connected to the breach.
A ban applies to the referral programme only. It does not affect your ability to use the app itself, and it does not affect any Video Replay Pro subscription you have paid for — refunds and cancellations for that are handled by the App Store in the normal way.

Rewards
Rewards for referrals are discretionary. Nothing on the leaderboard is a contract, a guarantee, or a promise of payment, and rewards have no cash value unless we say otherwise in writing at the time. We may change or end the referral programme, including the leaderboard, at any time.
Not yet live
The public leaderboard is not running yet. It did not launch with the first App Store release; until it does, an alias set in the app is stored on your own device and is not sent anywhere or published. These rules describe how it will work once it is live.
Changes to these rules
If the programme changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
