Privacy Policy
Video Replay for Android has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and it does not sell or share data with anyone. Your video and audio never leave your device except when you share them yourself.
The app does send two small things to our server, both described in full under Referrals and the leaderboard alias below: a randomly generated install code when you enter an invite code, and — only if you choose to set one — a public leaderboard alias. Nothing else the app does involves the network.
What the app does
Video Replay shows a live camera feed played back on a delay, in up to four independently delayed panels, so you can review what just happened. It can also record the replay itself to a video file.
Camera and microphone
The app uses your device's cameras to produce the delayed replay. Camera frames are held briefly in memory — a rolling buffer of up to 60 seconds — so a panel can show a moment from a few seconds ago. This buffer is discarded when you leave the session or close the app. Camera frames are never uploaded anywhere.
The microphone is used only while you are actively recording a session, so the recording has sound. It is not used at any other time.
Recordings
A recording contains only the app's own replay panels and the microphone audio. The app does not capture your screen: it does not and cannot see notifications, other apps, or anything outside its own replay views.
When you record a session, the video file is written to the app's own private storage on your device, and a copy is saved into your camera roll so you can find it in Photos alongside your other videos. Nothing is sent anywhere automatically.
When a recording finishes, the app opens your device's standard share sheet so you can choose what to do with the file — for example send it to Drive, Photos, Messages or email. That choice is yours, and the app has no visibility into what you pick or where the file goes afterwards.
Information stored on your device
The app saves a small amount of information locally, purely so it can work correctly:
- Session details you type into the recording form — participant name, coach name, session type and title — remembered so you don't have to retype them next time.
- Trial and subscription status, and the date the app was first opened, so it knows how much of the trial period remains.
- Your invite code, and your leaderboard alias if you have set one, along with the date you set it so the app knows when it can next be changed.
This information never leaves your device. You can clear the saved session details at any time from the app's menu, and uninstalling the app removes all of it.
Referrals and the leaderboard alias
Every install creates its own invite code — eight characters like WZ9Z-3WGP.
It is generated on your phone, it is not derived from your name, email, phone number or any
device identifier, and it is not linked to you. Sharing the app attaches it to the link so
an install can be credited to whoever recommended it.
You may optionally set a leaderboard alias: a public display name shown beside your referral count on the Video Replay referral leaderboard. It is entirely optional. If you never set one, nothing about you is ever published.
What is actually sent, and when. Two requests exist, and there are no others:
- If you enter (or paste) someone's invite code, the app sends your own install code and their code to our server once, so their referral count goes up. Both are the random eight-character codes described above — not your name, email or any device identifier — and this is not shown publicly anywhere.
- If you set a leaderboard alias, the app sends your install code and the alias you typed. The alias then appears publicly on the leaderboard next to your referral count. Your install code itself is never shown publicly, and never appears on the leaderboard page.
Both requests also reach our server from your device's IP address, as any web request does. It is used only to apply a short-lived rate limit against abuse — hashed, and discarded within about two hours — and it is not stored alongside your codes or alias, or kept as a record of who visited.
If you do set an alias, understand what publishing it means. The leaderboard is a page on the open internet. Anyone can read it, search engines will index it, and copies get cached, archived and screenshotted by people and services we do not control. Removing your alias later removes it from our page; it does not remove it from search results, web archives or anyone else's copy. Treat an alias as permanently public.
For that reason, please do not use your real full name, an email address, a phone number, your address, your school or club, or anything else that identifies you or where you are. The app rejects entries shaped like an email address or a phone number, but it cannot tell whether a name is your real one. Choose a nickname.
An alias can be changed once every 182 days (about six months) once it is published, so a name on the board means the same person each time. You can also remove your alias entirely from within the app at any time, which takes you off the leaderboard — with the caveat about caches and archives above. If you have trouble doing so, write to support@webgecko.au.
Misusing the referral programme — faked installs, bought or traded codes, spam, impersonation, or publishing someone else's personal information as an alias — is a breach of the referral rules, and can lead to the alias being removed, the account being banned from the programme, and any bonuses or rewards being voided.
Permissions and why they are needed

What the app does not do
- It does not create an account or ask you to sign in.
- It does not publish anything about you unless you deliberately set a leaderboard alias.
- It does not contain analytics, tracking, advertising or crash-reporting services.
- It does not send your video, audio, or any other information to us or to a third party. Your recordings are never uploaded. The only two things the app ever sends are the referral claim and leaderboard alias described above — both a randomly generated install code, never your name, email, contacts, location or device identifiers.
- It does not read your photo library, contacts, location or files. It only writes its own recordings into your gallery, and cannot see anything already there.
Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. The app itself gathers nothing about a child.
The one place a child could publish something about themselves is a leaderboard alias, which is why the app states in plain terms — before an alias is chosen, and again in the referral rules — that it becomes permanently public and must not contain real names or contact details. Parents who want an alias removed can write to support@webgecko.au.
Changes to this policy
If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
